The Mastery is a cutting edge weekend creative expression workshop that has
been transforming lives for over 30 years since Dan Fauci, founder of the New
York Actors Institute, created it in 1968.
The exercises and techniques are designed to help participants bring more of their inner resources - feelings, passion and creativity – to their lives. The Mastery gives us an experience of our own capacity for creative and spontaneous self-expression, so we can connect with our passions and discover more of who we are, what we want and what we need to do next, moment to moment. It’s about what becomes possible when we release more of our authentic self into our lives.
Three decades on the Mastery still exists in practically its original form and thousands of people from different cultures and backgrounds have experienced it as inspirational and even life changing. Rather than participants discussing techniques and theories the Mastery provides opportunities and exercises for participants to ‘get up and do it’ and explore creativity in action.
Participants are asked to bring a two-minute piece – e.g. a poem, song or monologue - as a vehicle for creative expression. This isn’t about creating fantastic performances; rather the piece is used as a medium to discover how we use our resources, how we can block ourselves and how we can become freer by ‘getting out of our own way’. There’ll be opportunities to take risks, experiment with ‘doing ourselves differently’ and authentically connect with others .
“Brilliant and unbeatable, brought out more from each of us than we ever knew we had!”
“Found myself re-born”

"This is not a workshop where you sit around discussing how you could change or explore aspects of your life that seem stale or stunted in growth. You get up and do it! Risk taking, permission and safety abound in this 'one in a million' workshop."
